An Early Morning Walk in Hamilton

Summer has come to Hamilton, +30C and sunny.

I hate to waste a day, so I got up early to make the best of the weather.  My short walk stretched out to 5 hours and I don't know how far.

I heard the low rumble of a diesel and waited patiently until she came around the bend.  Canadian Pacific Engine 8721 just after 6:00 am.

The second locomotive stopped directly in front of me. The red and gold in the logo just seemed to glow.

Gage Park

Crossing the tracks I headed into Gage Park.  Gage Park is a couple of streets and a short walk away from the house.

One of the many roses, in the multiple rose gardens in the park.

 Mushrooms

I  got down low for this shot.  The dew was still on the grass and I was hoping for a good shot.  Not bad for a 35mm lens.

Zeiss lens are supposed to have a "3d" like quality to them.  I can say that they are without a doubt the sharpest lenses I have ever used.

The "3d" quality hasn't been obvious until this shot.  The photo was cropped but otherwise not change.  Now if I can only figure out what I did to get the shot I would be happy.

Let the Show Begin

The park used to host live shows.  The bandstand is showing her age but is still ready to entertain.

Waterfall of Roses

Gage Park has a year round green house.

These roses were hanging off an arbour and brought to mind a waterfall of roses.

The Bruce Trail

After Gage Park I decide to head up the stairs at the end of Kenilworth and get on the Bruce Trail.  The trail runs from Niagara up to Tobermory.  Sounds like a nice walk until you realize it is almost 900 km (560 miles).

Not exactly a Sunday morning stroll.

The Bruce Trail

Oddly it reminds me of the trail in Russell.  Probably another old railroad track that has been converted into a walkway.

The Tower

I am not quite sure what it is but this tower was beside the trail.  About 40+ feet tall, it didn't appear to have any entrances.  Covered by graffiti at the bottom the stonework makes me think it has been here for quite a while.
