Keeping Traditions Alive

Me and Dale had to keep the dive tradition alive.

A New Year's Day dive in Lake Ontario.  Nothing was open except for the basin of the Humber River.  Everything else was iced over or we couldn't reach by shore.

The water was only 2 degrees colder than it is during the summer months at 2C (36F), but the air temp was well below -20C (-4F), so once we exited the water everything started to freeze up.

Bud was there to assit with unzipping the drysuit zippers, thankfully, or else it was back in the water to warm up and melt the ice ;o )

It is amazing to surface among floating ice.  Or to think you might have to get into the icy water to get warm.

Nature is truly amazing
