Last weekend was an amazing experience.
I headed down to Kentucky and West Virginia with a group of friends to visit abandoned, haunted Tuberculosis hospitals, prisons and the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.
I know it sounds weird but it was one of the best times I have ever had.
I did not catch any ghosts on camera, but I did capture a lot of unexplained audio voices on a digital voice recorder.
I took my D7100 and Sigma 10-20mm, 1:4-5.6 DC HSM lens. I liked this lens on my D60, but on the D7100 it is very soft after you get close to one third of the edge of the picture. I will go through the pictures to see if any are good enough to post.
Aside from the less than stellar performance of the Sigma lens, if you like photos of old places, or abandoned places, Moundsville Prison, Waverly Hills Sanitorium, and (my favourite) Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum are absolutely incredible, and absolutely worth the trip.
Just be sure to take the widest angle lens you have. Waverly Hills is "only" 180,000 square feet, and the Trans-Allegheny is "only'" 800,000 square feet. A 50mm just won't cut it.
Next trip in July will be with the D3s and my Zeiss lenses. ;o )
Zeiss lenses, unlike the Sigma are anything but soft.
