One of my fondest memories growing up was going to my best friend's house for dinner. When I was asked what I wanted, it was always chicken and dumplings.
I was thinking about that dinner all day yesterday and rounded up the ingredients to try a batch of my own. Hopefully they turn out as well as Mrs. Thorpe's.
The version I am trying is chef Paul Prudhomme's Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Dumpling soup.
Today started off with frying the chicken, and there is something about the smell of frying chicken on Sunday morning that just can't be beat.
